Understanding your patterns

Before we can change anything, we need to understand what's driving it. Not just the surface-level behaviour, but the emotional patterns underneath: why you think, react, and repeat the way you do.

These patterns often started as responses to difficult experiences… sometimes trauma, sometimes years of suppressing what you actually feel. They protected you once, but now they're running on autopilot and they're costing you.

Every physical and emotional symptom you're experiencing has a story. My work starts by understanding yours.

Techniques & Practices

The tools I use, and why.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

When an emotion is stuck in your body… anxiety in your chest, anger in your jaw, a tightness that won't shift no matter how much you talk about it… EFT works directly with it. Gentle tapping on acupressure points while focusing on what you're feeling. It calms the nervous system, reduces the charge around difficult memories, and creates space for new ways of responding.

Mirror Therapy

You stand in front of a mirror and speak to yourself with the kindness you'd give to someone you love. It sounds uncomfortable, and at first it is. But it builds emotional self-compassion in a way that talking alone can't reach. It's one of the most effective practices I use for people who struggle with how they see themselves.

Mindfulness & Body Awareness

Not the vague kind. Where do you feel tension when you're anxious? What happens when you change your posture? By shifting your physical state, you give the brain a new signal, and that's how old emotional patterns start to change. This is awareness in real time, and it's what connects sessions to your daily life.

These are some of the techniques I use most often. Every session draws from a wider toolkit, shaped by what you need.

“You have been criticising yourself for years and it hasn't worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
Louise Hay
How It Works Together

Understand. Heal. Build.

These aren't stages. They're dimensions of the same work, and we move between them based on what you need.

Some sessions focus on understanding. Some on healing. Some on building. Most touch more than one. The approach is integrated, personalised, and shaped entirely around you.

Why It Matters

Most practitioners offer one thing. I offer the right thing.

I'm trained in three approaches: counselling, psychotherapy, and life coaching. That's unusual… and it's deliberate. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burning out, going through a life transition, or carrying the weight of trauma you've never addressed… what brought you here rarely fits a single label.

You don't need to work out which one you need before we start. That's my job. We'll find the right balance together, and it will probably shift as you do.

Aashima helped me find different ways to cope with the ongoing stress. Very resourceful and non-judgemental. Her tapping sessions are the best.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is EFT and how does it work?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) combines focused attention on what you're feeling with gentle tapping on acupressure points on the body. It helps release emotional intensity held in the nervous system, often faster than talk therapy alone. No prior experience is needed.

Do I need to choose one approach?

No. Aashima blends counselling, psychotherapy, EFT, mindfulness, and coaching based on what you need in each session. The approach adapts to you, so you don't need to fit into a single framework.

How is this different from traditional therapy?

Traditional therapy often focuses on talking through the past. This approach integrates that understanding with body-based techniques for the present and coaching for the future... from healing to thriving, in one continuous process.
